February Update

Wow, Christian is doing more and more everyday! He sits up very well. Babbles a ton. He giggles and laughs. He grabs his toes, puts them in his mouth, and even pulls off his socks! He just also started eating cereal in addition to nursing.

Chris has been working about fifty hours or more a week. His job is going really well, and he's even already received a raise. This week, Christian and I went back to work. We are working back at the Peterson's, where I nannied previously from 2006 to 2007. Christian loves it there. It's a whole new environment to check out and the big kids (2nd grade, 6th grade, 8th grade, and 11th grade) give him a lot of attention. He is so well behaved while Mommy's at work. I am so proud of him. I couldn't ask for more!

Last week, Christian and I took our second trip to TN. Chris had to work. We visited my mom, Nana, and my grandparents, Great Grandma and Great Grandpappy. It was a wonderful visit. Christian was full of smiles and laughs. It was so great spending time with everyone, and we were able to meet Christian's new "cousin" Gavin. One of my best friend, Jenny's, new son. I love you all. I will try my best to write again soon!

Working Just Didn't Work

Well, Christian and I gave it our best shot at "Foundations for the Future". However, it didn't work for either of us. I had major concerns with their sanitary issues, and low and behold Christian ended up getting Rota Virus because of fecal to hand contamination. It was a total nightmare. He began vommitting and had horrible diarrhea. Then, his color was all off and he was limp as a rag doll. We arrived at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta urgent care, and I could see the concern in the nurses faces, all three of them that were in our room. He had to be taken in an ambulance to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital Downtown. They started his iv in the ambulance, continuing the fluids for many many hours at the hospital until he perked up. Finally, around 11pm I was able to nurse him his first meal in over ten hours. After the doctor was sure he could hold it down assisted with a perscription, they let us go home. For the next feew days, he was still under the weather. I worried he wasn't hydrated enough, but he finally came out of it.

Before I even knew Christian had been infected, I quit. I had problems with the school because they projected an upscale image. However after spending more then a couple hours there, their poor choices and shortcomings became more than apparent. Teachers were not given the proper supplies to clean and sanitize their rooms. There were not enough hands and eyes to care for all of the children in the classroom. Therefore, children were hitting, biting, and kicking each other. Two of the kids in my room suffered recent stitches that they acquired while at the center. The lobby looked great, but many of the rooms and bathrooms were unfinished. They were painted a stark white, and by now they were scuffed and dirty. It was not an environment that projected a desire to stimulate young minds, but rather one that said we are too cheap to pay to have this finished. The center also hired me on way below my pay value as a certified teacher. And to tope it all off, Christian was screaming crying in the next room. It would be time for him to be fed and no one was preparing him a bottle. My last day I left in tears and cried on the way home. I couldn't believe the center's owners dared to take over $1000 a month in parents hard earned money, while their children were being coralled in dirty classrooms as if they were cattle, and they expected me as a teacher to smile and communicate to the parents their child's progress and positive experiences for the day. I felt like a liar. Granted, there were a few good teachers at the center. They had no chance of creating success in their classrooms because of the policies laid down by the management. It was a total nightmare.

So, on a positive note, Christian and I have been able to stay at home while I search for work at my own pace. I've interviewed for a real teaching job in art for the county, but it is for next school year. I'm really hoping to get it! I may end up nannying until then. Christian would, of course, come along. I've been talking to some parents about it. I apologize for not blogging as often. I'm going to try to blog at least twice a month now.

Hiho, hiho, it's off to work we go!

After the most wonderful ten weeks of my life, it is time for me to go back to work :P Luckily, I will be doing something I love, working with kids (teaching). I was fortunate enough to find a job at a montessori school. And here's the best part . . . Christian will be going with me! Of course he will be in the infant room, not in my classroom, but I will still be able to drop in on him. And, I'll have an hour for lunch so I'll get to hang out with my little buddy in the middle of the day and nurse him. Please pray for us, that the Lord will bless our family in this endeavor. I am excited about the opportunity, and I hope that it will be a beneficial experience for Christian. We start next Wednesday, the day after Christmas.

I'm Two Months Old Now

Christian is two months now. He went to the pediatrician this week and received immunizations. He was really brave. He only cried for about 15 seconds, and then he fell a sleep! Our little guy is in the 75 percentile for height and weight; he's 23.75" and 13.5 lbs. Christian can lift his head and chest up to a 90 degree angle. He rolls over from his back to his tummy and his tummy to his back. He bats at hanging toys and babbles and coos. He has changed so much in these two short months. It's amazing!

Pap's 51st birthday was yesterday, so of course we went to visit him. We baked a carrot cake from scratch. Also, we've really gotten into the holiday spirit around here. Daddy hung our Christmas lights, and we put up all the decorations and the Christmas tree.

Thankful to be so blessed!

My apologies, I haven't blogged in a while. We've been pretty busy the last few weeks. So, please forgive me if this sounds a little disjointed. We had a tupperware party to attend, a teacher job fair, doctor's appointements, Grandma Julie's birthday, etc. I can hardly fine time to write. As far as Christian's status, we couldn't ask for a better baby. He is so easy going and sweet. He rarely gets fussy unless he's hungry. Christian was able to meet his uncle Steve, Chris' step brother last week. That was neat! We had a wonderful thanksgiving. We were in Acworth at my dad's, and had an awesome thanksgiving feast. We played Racko. Chris won four times in a row :P and we also played Scrabble ( I won!) Hope to write again sooner rather than later!

November! Already? Really?!

Wow, I can't believe it's already time for the holidays again! We had a blast Halloween night. We went to my dad's in Acworth fot the festivities. The weather was great. Christian wore his pumpkin outfit and later his pea pod costume. Thanks, Grandpa and Sarah! We just hung out with the family. Chris got into the spirit and dressed up with my dad, two big kids, and we all passed out candy together. We saw the cutest kids. My favorite was Bella in her bumble bee costume, age 4. She told us, "Halla Happyween!" So adorable!

Poor Christian! It's been getting colder at night here so I was bundling him up. Come to find out, I gave the poor child heat rash! Ahh, I feel so awful. I was trying to do the right thing. Since we know what is going on the rash is going away. I remember a friend of mine telling me how humbling an experience motherhood is. Now I know she's right! Christian sees the pediatrician on Monday for his check up. Our little guy is one month old!

Happy Halloween!

We love our little pumpkin! He's three weeks today. Time seems to be flying by. He'll be one before we know it! :'( Today we went to the pumpkin patch and picked out a few pumpkins. Christian's cuteness scored him a free, little pumpkin "for his nursery" the nice lady said. We also picked up some fresh tomatos, and Chris bought himself some hot boiled peanuts. Ah, fall is in the air! It's nice to watch the leaves turning. We're getting some much needed rain now. Though, hopefully it'll dry up for the trick or treaters next week!
